Gerard Wibin, artist
Born in the land of tanneries, legends and Benedictines, the Belgian Ardennes. Lives near Brussels.
Exploring the relationship between reality and feasibility, approaching what happens ‘behind reality’ provoking our mythical references, interrogating the moment when the work is born, here are some of the issues in Gérard Wibin’s sculptural and pictorial creations.
He is fascinated by the voids overcome by human bodies, but also the places where they are expected, fuel his research on the imitation of human actions.
Bachelor in Industrial Design and Scenography. Professor de industrial Design, Architecture, Heuristic and Communication.
He draws, loves painting aquarelle with a very thick paintbrush, paints oils and acrylics with a knife, he photographs, assembles various materials to create novel associations, he creates works that dominate, that do not remain objects.
He works out monumental spaces to personalize public sites: monumental sculptures and mosaics, urban fountains, urban furniture, roundabouts.
As an industrial designer, he has received several first prizes for building, heating and cleaning equipment, luxury furniture in wood and stone, industrial gastronomy, packaging, technical publications, commercial and cultural architecture, etc.
His artistic and technical training is also employed in jewelry.
He has been selected for the HRD 2005 award for a superb 20 carat diamond strapless top.
Currently: he is preparing artistic exhibitions on the Winning Gesture, on twelve Contemporary Classical Music composers, on the Limit of the Threshold, the Amazement of the gods, and on abstract and figurative research in the field of “photographical painting”.
He is also looking for a publisher for an artist’s book comprising 50 poems accompanying 50 sculptural or pictorial illustrations.
Also in preparation are an extraordinary marble and ceramic monument as well as a fabulous giant fountain made of reeds and sunshades..
Hello Artist !
When human power reaches its cyclic apogee, paradoxically, Man is anxious about his identity and questions his Wise men:
What time is it?
Where are my Dogs?
Who is the new neighbor?
Where are the keys to my house?
And the Artist answers:
Human!
While waiting for your return, I have neither forgotten nor lost anything.
I will tell you the time. Your dogs are at home, the neighbor-foreigner is full of stories to tell, and here is the key.
Hello Artist !
